| Thallus small-squamulose, in small rosettes or spreading irregularly, to 2 cm wide. Squamules to 3 mm wide, incised, mostly flat, contiguous or scattered on a ±developed prothallus. Upper surface grey-blue to brownish; margins generally paler. Lower surface whitish with blue-black rhizohyphae. Cyanobiont Nostoc, in clusters. Apothecia abundant, sessile, laminal, to 1.5 mm wide; disc convex at maturity, brown; thalline exciple crenulate, persistent or excluded at maturity, sometimes completely lacking. Ascospores 10–15 × 5–8 µm, often apiculate at one end; exosporium rugulose. CHEMISTRY: ±ursolic acid and an unidentified pigment, fast-running in TLC. | ||
| Fairly widespread in lowland to subalpine temperate rainforest from S.A., Qld, N.S.W., A.C.T., Vic. and Tas., mostly from trunks of Eucalyptus or Leptospermum in moist habitats; occasionally on moss. | ||
